May Day for Goth Girls

I’m posting this wonderful image for all the goth girls, to celebrate May Day, and because it is half way to Hallowe’en!! Also because I was named after Sam played by Elizabeth Montgomery in Bewitched (my sisters also have witchy names – Rowena and Demelza) and I like to think I looked a little like this gothicky witch in my earlier days!! I can also imagine Kaja rocking up to her wedding wearing something a lot like this and reaching for her copy of Harry Potter!

This is in fact just a quick morning doodle from the gifted hand of Chris Riddell, political cartoonist on The Observer and author of the brilliant Goth Girl (daughter of Lord Goth). It’s my new screen saver replacing Vivien Leigh as Titania. Hope you like it too!

That is splendid! The artistry and the name history. Makes my “morning”. (I was up late working, so it’s morning for me right now.) *wink*

  2. Thanks Daryl. Glad you liked it. Good luck with your writing. What are you working on?

Oh! I was actually editing, endlessly, a podcast update for my Pit show, which does have some Bewitched in it! So of course this entry spoke to me. The new podcast doesn’t have any as it’s a retrospective for before the otr episode when Endora shows up, but I still want to get to some more Bewitched characters coming back into the fold.

It’s my eleventh otr episode that has Endora. She’s pretty fun to work with. And then I watch Samantha Stephens now to get her as accurate as I can and I currently have this terrible inclination of doing that uncertain inflection she has saying the word, “…w-e-l-l…” all nervous in what will result in her explanation to Mr. Stephens.

I love Chris Riddell! This is so beautiful and not that dissimilar from what I will be wearing for my wedding. I love his stuff so much.
